Dangote Peugeot Automobiles Nigeria Limited (DPAN) has officially commenced the assembly of the Peugeot 3008 GT model at its Kaduna plant.
This move marks a significant step in the automaker’s efforts to reclaim its leadership position in the Nigerian automotive market. Alongside the assembly of the 3008 GT, DPAN is also preparing to introduce the Peugeot Landtrek 4×2 pickup, aimed at strengthening its foothold in the light commercial vehicle segment.
DPAN, which took over the operations of Peugeot Automobiles Nigeria (PAN), is a joint venture between Dangote Industries Limited, the Kaduna, Plateau, and Kebbi state governments, and Stellantis Group, the parent company of Peugeot. The 3008 GT is part of DPAN’s expansion of its vehicle lineup, which already includes the Peugeot 301 sedan and the Peugeot 5008, a large seven-seater SUV.
The new Peugeot 3008 GT, equipped with a 1.6-liter high-performance turbo engine, introduces advanced features and modern technology aimed at attracting discerning customers. This model offers a smooth driving experience with its automatic transmission system, lumbar-adjustment seats, and a Bluetooth telephony system to ensure hands-free communication. The 3008 GT also features auto headlights, fog lamps, day running lights, a sunroof with sliding function, and 17-inch alloy wheels, ensuring a premium driving experience. Safety remains a top priority, with both active and passive safety features tailored to the Nigerian market.
In addition to the 3008 GT, the forthcoming Peugeot Landtrek 4×2 pickup, with its rear-wheel drive system and 2.4-liter engine, promises to enhance the rugged pickup truck range, making it suitable for both urban and off-road use. The Landtrek 4×2 will complement the existing Landtrek 4×4 versions, with DPAN indicating that it may also consider introducing the latter in the near future.
Mr. Umar Isa-Kaita, Chief Commercial Officer of DPAN, emphasised the competitive advantages of the Peugeot 3008 GT, highlighting its comfort, performance, and technology designed for the Nigerian motoring environment. The assembly of the Peugeot 3008 GT and the launch of the Peugeot Landtrek pickup are strategic moves to strengthen Peugeot’s presence in the Nigerian auto market, which was once dominated by the brand from the 1980s through the early 1990s. With these new additions, DPAN aims to provide high-performance vehicles that meet the needs of both individual and commercial consumers in Nigeria.
