Wema Bank has unveiled the Wema Export Trade Academy, a specialised training initiative aimed at equipping small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Nigeria with the knowledge and tools necessary for success in international trade.
This comprehensive program is designed to help SMEs overcome the regulatory, financial, and logistical barriers that often impede their entry into global markets.
The Academy offers targeted training in key areas of export trade, such as compliance, documentation, financial planning, and risk management, with expert-led sessions and mentorship from industry leaders. These features provide SMEs with practical insights into international business operations and strategic guidance tailored to navigating complex export processes.
Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Wema Bank, Mr. Moruf Oseni, emphasised the bank’s commitment to nurturing the potential of SMEs.
“The Wema Export Trade Academy reinforces our dedication to empowering businesses and preparing them to compete on a global scale,” he said. Mr. Oseni noted that by addressing export trade barriers, the initiative aligns with Wema Bank’s vision of fostering sustainable growth and supporting SMEs in seizing international opportunities.
The Academy also seeks to build a robust network of Nigerian exporters, facilitating peer collaboration and connecting SMEs with international trade facilitators to bolster their global business presence.
Wema Bank, known for its innovative approach within Nigeria’s financial services sector, continues to enhance its offerings through strategic programs like the Export Trade Academy. This initiative underlines the bank’s role as an essential partner in driving growth and development for SMEs, promoting a future where Nigerian enterprises contribute significantly to global markets.
