United Bank for Africa (UBA), through its corporate social responsibility (CSR) arm, UBA Foundation, has kicked off the holiday season with its annual Garden Light-Up ceremony at the UBA head office in Lagos.
The reccent event brought together staff, customers, and well-wishers in a vibrant celebration of joy, unity, and gratitude.
The Garden Light-Up, a cherished annual tradition, highlights UBA’s dedication to spreading happiness and fostering a strong sense of community during the festive season. The ceremony featured stunning decorations, dazzling lights, fireworks, and uplifting music, serving as a symbol of hope and a prelude to the season of giving.
Speaking at the event, UBA’s Group Managing Director (GMD)/Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Mr. Oliver Alawuba, highlighted the bank’s commitment to creating memorable experiences and expressed appreciation for the support of staff and customers throughout the year.
“As we approach Christmas, a time of love and giving, we reflect on the spirit of community and gratitude,” Mr. Alawuba said.
“This annual lighting ceremony is a beacon of hope for the future, symbolizing all the goodness that lies ahead. I extend my heartfelt thanks to our staff, customers, and the board of UBA, led by our Chairman, Mr. Tony Elumelu, for their unwavering dedication and contributions, especially during this challenging year.”
Marking the bank’s 75th anniversary, Mr. Alawuba affirmed UBA’s resolve to build a legacy centered on family, unity, and giving back. He encouraged attendees to “touch their neighbour’s lives by spreading kindness and light,” reinforcing the bank’s ethos of compassion and community impact.
The event featured festive carols performed by the UBA Customer Fulfillment Centre Choir and concluded with a guided tour of the beautifully adorned UBA Foundation gardens on Lagos Marina, capped by a breath-taking fireworks display.
As part of its commitment to sustainable development, UBA Foundation has been instrumental in driving positive change in its host communities. This festive season, the foundation will extend its goodwill by providing meals to tens of thousands of people across Africa, further exemplifying its focus on education, environmental sustainability, economic empowerment, and other impactful initiatives.
