The announcement was made in a statement released recently, signed by Mr. Chidi Okezie, the company’s secretary.
The Board of Directors expressed profound gratitude to Dr. Sogunle for his remarkable 35 years of service, which saw him steer the company through several challenges and achievements.

He was later appointed deputy chief executive of Stanbic IBTC Bank Limited in December 2015, before becoming CEO of Stanbic IBTC Holdings in 2020.
As Dr. Sogunle prepares to retire, Stanbic IBTC appointed Dr. Adedeji, the current Chief Financial and Value Management Officer, as acting CEO. Dr. Adedeji will maintain his current role while serving as interim CEO. The company noted that Dr. Adedeji’s appointment received regulatory approval and will take effect from November 1, 2024.
“Dr. Adedeji brings a wealth of experience and a strong track record of leadership within our organisation,” the company noted, highlighting his over 25 years of experience in the banking sector.
