Shell has appointed Mr. Ronald Adams as the new Managing Director (MD) of its Nigerian deep-water subsidiary, Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Limited (SNEPCo).
This recent announcement made by Shell Nigeria’s Media Relations Manager, Gladys Afam-Anadu, also confirmed that Mr. Adams, a veteran of the energy industry, takes over from Mrs. Elohor Aiboni, who has assumed a new role as Asset Director at Brunei Shell Petroleum.
Mr. Adams, formerly the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Atlantic LNG in Trinidad and Tobago, brings a wealth of experience to his new position. He holds a BSc in Chemical Engineering from the University of the West Indies and an MBA in Strategic Planning from Heriot-Watt University in Scotland.
Speaking about his new role, Mr. Adams expressed enthusiasm about contributing to SNEPCo’s continued success in Nigeria’s deep-water oil production sector.
Mrs. Aiboni, who became SNEPCo’s MD in August 2021, leaves a legacy of significant accomplishments, particularly in advancing the company’s leadership in deep-water operations. Mrs. Aiboni expressed her gratitude to colleagues and partners, emphasising the collaboration that helped build a more efficient and cost-disciplined business.
The Country Chair of Shell Companies in Nigeria, Mr. Osagie Okunbor, welcomed Mr.Adams to the role, stating his confidence in Mr. Adams’ ability to further strengthen SNEPCo’s performance and social investments across Nigeria. He also commended Mrs. Aiboni for her remarkable leadership during her tenure and wished her success in her new role in Brunei.
SNEPCo, a pioneer in Nigeria’s deep-water oil sector, began its operations in 2005 with the Bonga field, which utilises a Floating, Production, Storage, and Offloading (FPSO) vessel with a capacity of 225,000 barrels per day, located 120 kilometers offshore in the Gulf of Guinea. The company continues to play a key role in the country’s energy production.
