Seven-Up Bottling Company (SBC) has received prestigious recognition at the 2024 Social Impact and Sustainability Awards (SISA) for its exemplary corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes and sustainability efforts.
In a recent statement, SBC announced its accolades, including the CSR Award for Educational Empowerment for its Harvard Business School Scholarship Initiative (HBSS) and recognition of its ‘One Staff, One Tree’ program as the Sustainability Initiative of the Year.
Additionally, SBC’s Managing Director, Mr. Ziad Maalouf, was named Social Impact Personality of the Year for his leadership in driving nationwide social responsibility initiatives.
Mr. Maalouf, during his keynote address, highlighted the company’s philosophy of empowering communities and fostering sustainable development.
“It is not enough to give; we must invest in people. True social responsibility is about creating opportunities for sustainable development,” he said, emphasising the driving vision behind initiatives such as the Harvard Business School Scholarship.
SBC’s HBSS Initiative provides talented Nigerians with scholarships to pursue an MBA at Harvard Business School. The program aims to nurture future leaders who can champion sustainable development in Nigeria, highlighting SBC’s belief in the transformative power of human capital investment.
The ‘One Staff, One Tree’ program, recognised as a standout sustainability initiative, encourages employees to plant trees, contributing to environmental sustainability and tackling climate change. By engaging its workforce, SBC has reinforced its commitment to a greener future and environmental stewardship.
Accepting the awards on behalf of the company, Sari El Khalil, Chief Transformation Officer, and Lovelyn Okoye, Head of Sustainability, reaffirmed SBC’s commitment to fostering positive change in Nigeria.
“Receiving these awards is a testament to the hard work of our incredible team and our partners. We are committed to creating opportunities that drive positive social and environmental impact and look forward to continuing our journey towards a more sustainable and inclusive future,” Mr. Maalouf stated.
SBC’s initiatives reflect its broader CSR strategy, which encompasses community empowerment, youth education, and sustainability practices. Under Mr. Maalouf’s leadership, the company has remained actively involved in impactful programs through collaborations such as the Food and Beverage Recycling Alliance (FBRA) and efforts to support small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
