In a boost to Nigeria’s burgeoning tech scene, three startups have emerged victorious at the NSIA Prize for Innovation, taking home a total of $220,000.
Sycamore, a fintech platform, claimed the top prize of $100,000, followed by ed-tech company Kunda Kids with $70,000, and PaveHQ, a learning and career ecosystem, with $50,000.
The winners were chosen after presenting their pitches to an expert panel during Demo Day in Lagos. The NSIA Prize for Innovation aims to nurture early-stage tech businesses and drive sustained economic development in Nigeria.
The Managing Director (MD)/Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NSIA, Mr. Aminu Umar-Sadiq, highlighted the significance of technology in driving socio-economic outcomes and expanding opportunities.
Mr. Babatunde Akin-Moses, CEO of Sycamore, expressed optimism about the impact of the award on their ability to support SMEs, the backbone of any economy.
In addition to the monetary prizes, all ten finalists will participate in a five-week training program at Draper University in Silicon Valley, USA, to enhance their skills and potential for global impact.
This initiative demonstrates NSIA’s commitment to supporting Nigeria’s tech ecosystem and driving economic growth.
