MTN Group has recently garnered significant recognition in two prestigious awards for its commitment to engaging with capital markets stakeholders.
The company’s integrated annual report received an ‘Excellent’ designation at the 2024 EY Excellence in Integrated Reporting Awards, positioning MTN among the top 24 companies listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE).
This award evaluates the quality of integrated reporting and the effectiveness of companies in communicating their value creation journey.
Additionally, MTN excelled in the 2024 Extel Developed Europe and EMEA Executive Team Awards, where it was ranked first in eight categories within the telecoms, media, and tech (TMT) sector. This ranking comes from a survey conducted among over 2,000 investment professionals, focusing on qualitative performance metrics for investor relations (IR) and executive teams.
The awards highlighted MTN’s strong performance in several key categories, including best Chief Executive Officer (CEO), best Chief Financial Officer (CFO), and best IR Professional.
Also, MTN Group gained recognition as best IR team, best IR programme, best ESG Programme, best Investor/Analyst Day, and best Company Board
The growing interest in these awards, reflected in a 25 percent increase in votes from the previous year, underscores the importance of independent feedback on corporate activities and engagement within capital markets.
MTN emphasised that one of its strategic priorities is to ‘create shared value,’ which hinges on effective stakeholder engagement, particularly with the investment community.
The company expressed gratitude for the acknowledgment of its transparent and consistent efforts in capital market engagement, crediting its IR team for raising standards in a competitive industry.
