Julius Berger Nigeria Plc has appointed Dr. Peer Lubasch as its new Managing Director (MD).
The decision follows the upcoming expiration of the contract of the outgoing MD, Engr. Dr. Lars Richter.
This announcement was made in a statement signed by the company’s Secretary, Mrs. Cecilia Madueke, after a recent Board of Directors’ meeting.
Mrs. Madueke outlined the resolutions taken by the board, stating: “The resignation of Engr. Dr. Lars Richter as Director and MD of the company, effective at the expiration of his employment contract on October 15, 2024, was accepted. Engr. Dr. Peer Lubasch, in accordance with the succession plan for Executive Management, has been appointed as Director and MD, effective from October 16, 2024.”
Engr. Richter, who has served as MD since 2018, confirmed his decision to step down, citing personal reasons for his return to Germany. “The Board of Directors of Julius Berger Nigeria Plc honoured my request not to extend my contract as MD. After six years in the role, I will be returning to Germany at the end of this year for personal reasons,” Dr. Richter stated.
Reflecting on his career, he stated: “Today, I look back on 15 years of service with Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, during which I had the privilege of working with many talented individuals and overcoming numerous challenges.”
Engr. Richter began his journey with Julius Berger in 2002 as a young engineer at the company’s Wiesbaden office and has since grown through the ranks. His tenure as MD saw the company navigate various operational milestones in Nigeria.
The incoming MD, Dr. Lubasch, is currently the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Julius Berger International GmbH, based in Wiesbaden, Germany. Dr. Lubasch holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of Duisburg-Essen in Germany. He brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having served in leadership positions within the Julius Berger group.
Engr. Richter expressed confidence in his successor, stating: “I am pleased to announce that Dr. Lubasch will take over the position starting from October 16, 2024. He has been a key part of Julius Berger’s international operations, and I am confident that he will lead the company to even greater success.”
This leadership transition marks a new chapter for Julius Berger Nigeria Plc as it continues to cement its position as one of Nigeria’s leading construction companies.
