The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has awarded the Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG) with the prestigious title of ‘Most Compliant Taxpayer’ at the recent 2024 FIRS Day, held during the Lagos International Trade Fair.
This award, part of the FIRS Compliant Taxpayer Award and Recognition Programme, acknowledges companies that consistently uphold their tax responsibilities, significantly contributing to Nigeria’s economic development.
This award is a notable milestone for NLNG, coming after its ‘Most Supportive Taxpayer’ accolade from FIRS in 2021. In a recent statement, the FIRS commended NLNG for its exceptional adherence to tax laws, lauding the company’s dedication to supporting Nigeria’s economy through diligent tax compliance.
The award was accepted on behalf of NLNG by Mrs. Titi Horsfall, Head of Editorial and Digital Content, in recognition of the company’s role in national development. Reflecting on the accolade, NLNG’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Philip Mshelbila, emphasised its significance during a landmark year for the company, which celebrates its 35th year of incorporation and 25th year of LNG production in Nigeria.
“We are honoured to receive this prestigious recognition from the FIRS. It reflects the dedication of our Board, management, and staff, who work tirelessly to ensure that NLNG remains a responsible corporate entity,” said Dr. Mshelbila.
“This award also reinforces our ongoing commitment to contributing to the sustainable development of Nigeria’s economy.”
He reiterated that NLNG’s dedication to compliance aligns with its mission to be a global leader in energy while advancing Nigeria’s energy sector and enhancing the quality of life through responsible business practices.
