The Enugu State Government has entered into a joint venture with Landmark Africa Group to revitalise Nike Lake Resort, a historic hospitality landmark in Enugu.
Under this public-private partnership (PPP), the state government will provide the Nike Lake Resort as an asset, while Landmark Africa will invest ₦10 billion in the initial phase, managing and operating the facility to restore it to its former prominence.
Governor of Enugu State, Mr. Peter Mbah, described the partnership as a strategic step toward his administration’s goal of growing Enugu’s economy to $30 billion in the next six years. Highlighting the significance of the deal during the signing ceremony at the Government House, Enugu, Mr. Mbah expressed confidence in Landmark Africa’s reputation and expertise in the hospitality sector.

“Landmark Group is a household name in the hospitality industry, and its reputation precedes it. Nike Lake Resort is an iconic establishment, and its revitalisation aligns with our vision of connecting the dots to drive economic growth,” said Mr. Mbah. He emphasised his administration’s readiness to complement the project with infrastructure development, including the ongoing Enugu-Opi-Nsukka Road project, to enhance business and investment opportunities.
Paul Onwuanibe, Founder and CEO of Landmark Group, noted that their interest in Nike Lake Resort was fueled by the governor’s infrastructural advancements, improved security measures, and Enugu’s potential as a tourism hub. He assured stakeholders of the group’s commitment to restoring the Resort’s past glory while creating significant economic impact.
“This state has demonstrated good governance and remarkable progress under this administration. We are honoured to be part of this transformation. Our investment of over ₦10 billion in the first phase will enhance job creation, strengthen the value chain, and boost Enugu’s Internally Generated Revenue through increased tourism and international visitors,” said Onwuanibe.
The partnership is expected to attract up to two million visitors annually, create numerous jobs, and significantly boost Enugu’s local economy. Governor Mbah reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to fostering an enabling environment for investments to thrive, solidifying the state’s position as a hub for tourism and economic development.
