The Seed Lab, a key initiative under the African Development Bank (AfDB)’s Agri-Food small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) Catalytic Financing Mechanism (ACFM), is now accepting applications.
This program, delivered through Open Capital’s Agri-SME Support Program, is designed to empower agri- small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with the skills and knowledge needed for sustainable growth and impact.
The Seed Lab aims to support SMEs in the agribusiness sector by providing essential training in strategic planning, financial management, business operations, and leadership. Led by industry experts, the program is tailored to help businesses scale effectively and secure external funding.
Eligibility Criteria
To participate in the Seed Lab, your business must have meet the following criteria below;
Geographic Location
Based in Ghana, Kenya, Uganda, or Nigeria
Sector
Operates in agribusiness, including food system value chains and supporting ecosystem players (e.g., agricultural producers, input and equipment providers, processors, marketplaces, Ag-tech businesses, etc.)
Annual Revenues (2023)
Between US $100,000 and $500,000
Full-Time Employees
Between 5 and 50
Capital Raise Target
Between US $50,000 and $750,000
Gender and Climate Integration
Priority will be given to SMEs with gender-inclusive and climate-resilient practices
