The Chairman of Sinotruk and President of Shandong Heavy Industry Group, Mr. Wang Zhijian, has visited the Dangote Sinotruk West Africa Ltd (DSWAL) assembly plant in Ikeja, Lagos, as part of a commemorative tour celebrating 10 years of partnership between Sinotruk and Dangote Group.
Mr. Zhijian and his delegation were received by the Managing Director of DSWAL, Mr. Hikmat B. Thapa, who led them on a tour of the Completely Knocked Down (CKD) assembly plant, the largest of its kind in West Africa. The visit highlighted the continued collaboration between the two industry giants in producing heavy-duty, medium, and light trucks tailored for the Nigerian and ECOWAS markets.
Following the plant visit, the delegation proceeded to the Dangote Refinery and Petrochemicals Complex in Ibeju-Lekki, where they were welcomed by the President of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote. He lauded the strong partnership between Sinotruk and Dangote Industries, emphasising its role in Nigeria’s industrial growth.
Speaking on behalf of the Dangote Group, Mr. Devakumar Edwin, Vice President of Oil and Gas at Dangote Industries Limited, highlighted the progress of Africa’s largest refinery since it began operations in 2024.
Since launching its truck assembly operations in 2017, DSWAL reached a significant milestone in June 2024 with the commissioning of its CKD assembly lines by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, in the presence of Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and other dignitaries.
Located on Oba Akran Avenue, Ikeja, the DSWAL plant assembles around 16 trucks per day, with an annual capacity of 10,000 units. The company also plans to expand its production line to include semi-trailers, tankers, and other commercial vehicles to meet market demand.
As part of its long-term vision, DSWAL aims to achieve 40-60 percent local content in its manufacturing process, reinforcing its commitment to Nigeria’s industrialisation and economic growth.
